Chesapeake Crime Line

Chesapeake Crime Line (CCL) is a community-based nonprofit organization that partners with law enforcement, the media, and the community in the fight against crime. CCL provides anonymous and confidential ways to submit crime tips 24 hours a day. Information provided through Crime Line may help law enforcement solve crimes, identify suspects, locate wanted persons, or recover stolen property.

Cash Rewards:

Chesapeake Crime Line offers cash rewards of up to $1,500 for tips that lead to an arrest, help solve a crime, or assist in locating a wanted person.
 

COLD CASE REWARD: A $5,000 cash reward is available for information that leads to an arrest in a Chesapeake cold case. You can remain anonymous.

You do not have to provide your name.
 

How Does the Program Work?

When you submit a tip, you will receive a unique tip code that allows you to follow up on your tip while remaining anonymous.
 

Tips are forwarded to law enforcement for investigation. If your information leads to an arrest and meets reward eligibility requirements, you may be eligible for a cash reward. Your tip code allows you to check the status of your tip and, if eligible, claim your reward anonymously.
 

Chesapeake Crime Line also helps raise awareness of unsolved crimes and wanted persons through social media and information shared in partnership with the Chesapeake Police Department.

How are Tipsters Kept Anonymous?

Your name is not required. You can submit information and follow up on your tip without identifying yourself. Your unique tip code, not your name, is used to follow up on your tip and, when eligible, claim a cash reward.

Your anonymity is maintained throughout the Crime Line process.
