More on How it Works

Who Operates Crime Line?

Crime Line is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of citizens, just like you who are interested in deterring crime in our community, governs the Crime Line program. If you're interested in becoming a board member and taking part in making for a safer community, please email CCL at: Info@ChesapeakeCrimeLine.org

The Chesapeake Police Department investigates and processes the tips, makes arrests, recovers property and reports the outcome of tips to the Board of Directors.

Who Decides Reward Amounts?

The Board of Directors is guided by a suggested scale to ensure equitable rewards for comparable crimes.

Where Do Rewards Come From?

Reward dollars are derived from tax deductible donations from individuals, businesses and civic organizations to fund Chesapeake Crime Line. It is a non-stock, non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated exclusively to the fight against crime in our community. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support our mission to fight crime.
